Summary

RateCalc is a static web tool. The numbers you type into the calculator (income goal, expenses, tax rate, hours, saved profiles) are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers — we don't have any servers that receive them. We do not require an account and we do not collect your name, email or payment details.

Data stored in your browser

To make the tool convenient we use your browser's localStorage to remember your last inputs, saved rate profiles, your theme preference and your Pro license status. This data stays on your device. You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain or by using the Reset button and deleting profiles inside the app.

When you use the "Share link" feature, your inputs are encoded in the URL you copy. Anyone you send that link to can see those numbers; only share it with people you trust.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

This site may show advertisements served by Google AdSense and may use Google Analytics to understand how the tool is used (pages viewed, buttons clicked, approximate location, device type). These third parties may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure traffic and, in the case of AdSense, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• You can learn how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• Browser extensions and settings that block third-party cookies will not affect the calculator itself.

Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), a consent mechanism is used before non-essential cookies are set.

Affiliate links

Some pages contain links to third-party services (for example payment and banking providers for freelancers). These are affiliate links: if you click one and sign up or make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies when you visit their sites. We only list services we believe are genuinely useful to freelancers, and the presence of an affiliate link does not change the calculator's results in any way.

Pro purchases

The optional Pro upgrade is sold through a third-party checkout provider (such as Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad or Stripe). Your payment information is handled entirely by that provider under its own privacy policy; we never see your card details. The license key you receive is stored only in your browser.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this address.
